The WRT54G is well documented around the net. Wikipedia even had a page for it. It's not really news. However, the unit recently gone on sale in and around the lower mainland for under 59.99. I picked mine up for 49.99 @ Walmart. Walmart you ask? Well, not really a geek store. But when it comes to computers, it's not a high volume outlet.. The major players like BestBuy, FS, NCIX etc.. Had the newer models with the non-Linux bios..
Okay, so it's not much of a jump. The work has all been done. Now, I just have a router with a fancy telnet.. And really, I'm not too interested in bash prompt *yeah right*, what I'm more interested is the DD-WRT QoS features. My previous router the MN-700, had no qos at all.. This cause a real problem, when your girlfriend is trying to talk to her aunt (Or hunt for a job), and I'm trying to download last weeks "OC".. Anyhow
At any rate, 49.99 for this little gadget is a steal. I'm excited that hopefully it will resolve my QoS issues with Vonage, and at the same time, allow me to experiment with squid, kismet etc, all on an embedded device. Cool.
